What is Neurofeedback?

  • EEG Biofeedback known also as EEG Neurofeedback (NF) and Neurofeedback, is a learning strategy that enables people to alter their own brain waves.
  • When information about a person's own brain wave characteristics is made available, s/he can learn to change them.
  • The individual "plays" a type of computer game which exercises the brain just as one can exercise one's body by working out at a gym.
  • A person may want to change a particular behavior but find it difficult or impossible to change despite working at it. This may be because our brain pathways seem to be "fixed" in a certain place. However, because the human brain has "plasticity" and the ability to change, it has the capacity to develop new pathways through exercise.
  • Through the non-invasive computer accelerated exercise provided with EEG Neurofeedback, individuals are now capable of changing old behavior and/or adding new behavior they felt unable to accomplish in the past.
  • The training is used for many conditions and disabilities in which the brain is not working as well as it might.

How is Neurofeedback Performed?

  • Brainwave Activity is measured with an electroencephalograph (EEG).
  • The EEG Neurofeedback Equipment is connected to sensors that are placed on the scalp and ears.
  • The sensors are safe, no not prick the skin, and are painless.
  • After adequate connection to the scalp and ears are made, the individuals brainwave activity can be observed on a computer monitor.
