For Educational Consultants
As a professional working with today's families, are you facing
any of these problems?
- A teen completes a wilderness/therapeutic program and is having
a hard time readjusting to family or community.
- Parents who are uncomfortable with the idea of sending their
child to a wilderness/therapeutic program.
- A family in crisis that simply can't afford a short- or long-term
program.
Then Family C&C is the solution.
Family C&C was created with the encouragement from Educational
Consultants who saw the need for aftercare follow-up by someone
who understands how these programs work. Dr. Ray has worked within
every aspect of the emotional growth programs from non-traumatic
transport to the development of self-paced curriculum to transition
and aftercare.
It was while directing the final phase of a wilderness/therapeutic
program, preparing teens to return home, that Dr. Ray Gwilliam discovered
the need to work with the entire family. Working with the family
as a whole dramatically increased the success rate.
What kind of doctor makes house calls?
Family C&C was founded for the sole purpose of equipping teens
and their families to meet the many challenges they face.
Dr. Ray's focus is on the well-being of the teens and families,
so he never favors any one approach or school of therapy to the
exclusion of others. An incredibly intuitive analyst, Dr. Ray sees
the teen as part of a unique web of family interaction and chemistry.
That's why this doctor makes house calls.
Dr. Ray visits with subject families in their homes for two to
three days in order to identify the patterns that inhibit unity
and the nurturing of the family spirit. "Our goal, after all, is
to address the causes, and not just band-aid the symptoms," says
Dr. Ray. Observing a family at home neutralizes many of the screening
behaviors that tend to obscure negative behavior patterns. As well
as making it possible to identify and bring focus to the strengths
of the family. This means that more energy and time can be devoted
to family solutions-and solutions are what Family C&C is all about.
- Provide in-home coaching to help families transition their teenagers
to therapeutic or wilderness programs.
- Contract work for in-home assessment.
- In home aftercare coaching for families who need additional
support following a wilderness or therapeutic program.
- 3-month to 12-month coaching packages available.

"His common sense, and his caring, along with his unerring
intuition, made a huge difference in the lives of these kids
and their families. He was able to get parents to accept their
responsibility in their children's difficulties and lead them
to a new way of working in their family."

"He is able to use creative counseling techniques that draw
on the imagination of the client and engage the person in
psychologically safe, yet revealing activities. I'm not sure
the kind of intuition he has can be taught. It seems to be
a unique talent. I feel privileged to have worked with him."

reassuring, directing, and focusing them with gentle firmness,
fairly, and with a pleasant disposition that quiets even the

"Dr. Ray was instrumental in my son's healing process, sometimes
working in his office talking and listening, sometimes in
outdoor settings, sometimes through the use of symbols and
metaphors which were very powerful for my son and for me.
We made a breakthrough with Dr. Ray's help, and the integrity
of our relationship was restored."
